Tough Day for the Tigers

It was a tough day at the office for us Detroit Tigers fans as we went up against the Los Angeles Angels and fell short with a final score of 2-5. We saw our team struggle at bat for most of the game, and the Angels took advantage of their opportunities throughout.

Early Inning Woes

The game started with our Tigers going down in order in the first inning, with Kerry Carpenter, Zach McKinstry, and Gleyber Torres unable to get on base. Our pitcher did well to keep the Angels scoreless initially, but Carpenter's fielding error in the second inning allowed the Angels to take an early lead. From there, we struggled to find our footing offensively, with Riley Greene and Colt Keith unable to string hits together to capitalize on their on-base presence.

Angels Capitalize in the 6th

The game slipped away from us in the sixth inning when the Angels mounted a solid attack, scoring four runs. Luis Rengifo and Kyren Paris came through for the Angels with crucial hits. Beau Brieske tried to stop the damage by relieving Jack Flaherty, but unfortunately, the Angels' momentum was too strong, and they ended the inning with a commanding 5-0 lead.

Late Comeback Falls Short

Despite a spirited attempt to mount a comeback, we couldn’t close the gap. Spencer Torkelson provided a glimmer of hope with a solo homer in the eighth inning that brought the score to 5-1. In the ninth, rally efforts were made with pinch-hitters like Justyn-Henry Malloy and Andy Ibáñez. Ibáñez singled, and Torres doubled him to third base. Greene's groundout allowed Ibáñez to score our second run, but it was not enough to catch up.

All in all, it was a disappointing outing for us, but let’s rally behind our team as they look to bounce back in the next game! Go Tigers! 🐯⚾
