Tigers Start Strong, but Dodgers Rally Back
As a devoted Tigers fan, it's always a rollercoaster of emotions watching our team take on the heavyweights, and last night's game against the Dodgers was no exception. We started strong in the top of the 1st inning, and I was thrilled to see Zach McKinstry get things rolling with a single and Spencer Torkelson follow suit. Thanks to the sharp presence of Manuel Margot and a patient Trey Sweeney walking, we managed to bring two quick runs across the plate. Not a bad way to kick off the first inning!
Dodgers' Power Bats Make the Difference
In the bottom of the 1st inning, just as we were savoring our early lead, the Dodgers showed why they're a formidable opponent. Freddie Freeman quickly answered back, sending a ball soaring 418 feet to right-center field to put the Dodgers on the board. After that, while we managed to hold them scoreless for a bit, by the 5th inning, the Dodgers' bats came alive again thanks to crucial hits by Teoscar Hernández and again Freeman delivering late in the game with a double, while Will Smith also joined the homerun party. Each swing was like a punch to the gut.
Tigers' Fight But Can't Overcome the Deficit
Our boys weren't going to give up so easily. Watching Jake Rogers hammer that triple into center in the 7th inning was a sight to behold, and seeing McKinstry bring him home kept our hope alive, even temporarily. However, the Dodgers' bullpen shut us down in the final innings, and no thanks to Joe Jiménez and some missed opportunities at the plate. Ultimately, we fell 7-3, and it's tough to swallow losing after having such a promising start. But Tigers fans know there's always the next game and plenty of season ahead to roar back!
