Tough Day at the Plate 😔

Unfortunately, our Tigers couldn't get much going offensively tonight against the Padres. The game started off with a series of strikeouts and groundouts that set the tone for a long night of frustration. In the top of the 1st inning, Parker Meadows, Riley Greene, and Matt Vierling all failed to get on base, with Meadows and Greene both striking out swinging. This trend continued through much of the game.

Taking Advantage of Errors 😤

The Padres took the lead in the bottom of the 3rd inning, thanks to a throwing error by pitcher Hanifee that allowed Mason McCoy to reach second. Luis Arraez then singled to right, bringing McCoy home. Despite the setback, it was good to see some resilience from our pitching staff, especially in tight spots. But the errors hurt us bad tonight.

Opportunities Missed 😟

Our Tigers had their opportunities to claw back into the game. In the top of the 4th and 6th innings, we had runners on base but couldn’t deliver the timely hit. Kerry Carpenter and Colt Keith both had chances to drive in runs but couldn't get it done. Spencer Torkelson also struggled at the plate, striking out multiple times.

Padres Pile On 😢

The bottom of the 8th inning saw the Padres extend their lead. Kyle Higashioka's double to left and Mason McCoy's bunt single set the stage for Luis Arraez to drive in another run. Later, Manny Machado capped off the inning with a single to bring in Jake Cronenworth. The final score was 3-0, sealing our fate.

Closing Thoughts 💭

Our pitching staff did their best to keep us in the game, but the lack of offensive support made it tough. Kudos to Riley Greene for showing some hustle with his double in the 8th, but we need more consistency at the plate. Let's regroup and come back stronger in the next game. Go Tigers! 🐯
