Tough Loss for the Padres

As a die-hard Padres fan, this one stings 😢. We were cruising through the game only for things to fall apart in the 9th inning! Let's break down what went down.

Early Momentum with Profar and Bogaerts

Luis Arraez got things started off right in the 1st inning with a single to left. Although Fernando Tatis Jr. hit into a double play immediately after, Jurickson Profar came up big with a solo homer to right, putting us ahead 1-0 early on 🎉.

In the 2nd, Jake Cronenworth doubled to right, and then Xander Bogaerts crushed a 357-foot homer to left, extending our lead to 3-0. Things were looking pretty good!

Solid Defense and Pitching Through the Middle Innings

Our pitchers held steady through the middle innings. Big shout out to our defense for turning some clutch double plays. We kept the Tigers scoreless up until the 9th inning, and it felt like we were coasting towards a W 🏆.

9th Inning Disaster

Here’s where things went sideways. Suarez came in to close it out but loaded the bases after walking Jace Jung and allowed a crucial single. Then, with two outs and the bases loaded, Parker Meadows launched a 361-foot homer into left field, giving the Tigers a 4-3 lead. 😫

Last-Chance Efforts Not Enough

In our bottom 9th hopes, Manny Machado grounded out, and pinch-hitter Donovan Solano flied out to right. Bogaerts did try to muster some rally with a single, but Jackson Merrill ended it with a fly out to center, sealing the game 4-3 for Detroit.

A frustrating end to a game we had control over for 8 innings. We'll need to shake this off and get back stronger next game 💪. Keep the faith, Padres fans!
