Tough Start Despite Quick Momentum
The game started off with the Astros taking an early lead in the first inning. After a walk to Altuve and a single by Bregman, a double play grounded out by Alvarez still managed to bring Altuve home. It might have been just one run, but it set the tone. The excitement picked up for us in the bottom of the 2nd inning. After a single by Nick Sogard and Ceddanne Rafaela, David Hamilton doubled to center field, bringing both of them home. The struggle was real for our lineup, but we saw another bright spot in the 4th inning. After Nick Sogard walked, stole second, and then scored thanks to a pickoff error by the Astros' pitcher, we pushed our lead to 3-1. Things took a brutal turn for us in the top of the 7th inning. Jose Altuve homered, bringing home Meyers and tying the game at 3-3. With Kelly replacing Sims, the troubles didn't stop there. Hits by Singleton, Peña, and Altuve brought home more runs, putting the Astros ahead 5-3. That inning was a rough blow.
Astros Seal the Deal in the 9th inning
The top of the 9th nailed our coffin shut. Bregman's double followed by Alvarez's double and a homer by Yainer Diaz, extending their lead to 8-3. We managed to claw one more back in the bottom of the inning thanks to Devers, but it wasn't enough to mount a comeback.Final Thoughts
An 8-4 final score wasn't what we hoped for, especially after showing promise early on. The errors and missed opportunities cost us big time this game. We'll need to tighten up and refocus as we push forward. Til' next game, let's stay hopeful and keep rooting for our Sox!
