Tough Loss Against the Astros

Hey Guardians fans! 🏟️ Our beloved Cleveland Guardians faced a challenging match against the Houston Astros, falling 4-2. While we put up a strong fight, a few missed opportunities and Astros' timely hitting got the better of us.

Promising Start

Despite a scoreless start for both teams through the first three innings, our boys showed some promise with Angel Martinez and Jose Ramirez each getting singles in the 1st inning. However, both were unfortunately caught trying to stretch into doubles. Our pitcher did a solid job keeping Houston at bay until Jose Altuve and Christian Walker combined skills to score three runs in the 5th inning.

Guardians' Comeback Attempt

In the bottom of the 5th, Daniel Schneemann and Nolan Jones got on base, setting Will Wilson up for a crucial RBI single that brought Schneemann home and put us on the board. 💪 David Fry then kept our hopes alive by launching a solo homer in the 6th inning to cut the Astros' lead to two, but it wasn't enough to turn the tide.

Missed Opportunities

The 7th and 8th innings saw promising starts with an Arias double and Fry drawing a walk, but double plays stalled what could have been clutch moments. The Astros’ pitching staff, with Abreu and Hader closing out strong, kept our boys off the bases in the 9th inning despite our best efforts. A tough break, but lots of learning points for the next matchup! ⚾

Keep your heads up Guardians, we'll come back stronger. Go Cleveland! 🍀
