Astros Jump Out to Early Lead
In the top of the 2nd inning, our boys in orange and blue started cooking! Victor Caratini singled, followed by another single from Jake Meyers. Working some patience at the plate, Mauricio Dubón and Jose Altuve drew walks, forcing in the first run with Caratini scoring. The reliable Yordan Alvarez tacked on another run with a sacrifice fly to make it 2-0 Astros.Bregman With the Big Blast
Top of the 3rd inning, Kyle Tucker singled and then Alex Bregman smashed a two-run homer to left (378 feet!), putting our Astros up 4-0!
Jeremy Peña followed with a double, but we couldn't add more to the tally. Still, 4-0 felt great!Angels Claw Back
The Angels tried to fight back in the bottom of the 3rd. Jordyn Adams walked and stole second. Jack Lopez also walked and eventually both came around to score after a groundout and a single, making it 4-2. They added another run in the 4th with a solo homer from Mickey Moniak, closing the gap to 4-3. But our pitchers kept their composure!
Tense Mid-Innings
The middle innings had both teams pitching well. Dubón continued to impress with some hits, and Caratini was solid behind the plate and at-bat, but runs were hard to come by. Both teams were kept scoreless through the 5th to 8th innings. Our defense tightened up, and credit to the bullpen for stepping up big time!
Alvarez Adds Insurance
In the top of the 9th, big man Yordan Alvarez launched a solo homer to center (397 feet) providing some much-needed insurance making it 5-3 Astros! Yainer Diaz followed up with a double, and though we couldn't add more, the additional run gave us breathing room.Hader Slams the Door
Bottom of the 9th and it was Josh Hader time! He came in to close things out and did just that. Three quick outs sealed the deal, with Logan O'Hoppe striking out swinging to end the game. Final score: Astros 5, Angels 3. Victory secured!
