Disappointing Loss Against the Padres
Well folks, that was a tough loss to swallow. The Astros fell to the Padres 0-4 last night. Let's break down what went down during the game.Silent Bats Early On
The night didn’t start off well for our Astros' offense. In the first inning, Jose Altuve grounded out to third, Yordan Alvarez flied out to right, and Alex Bregman also flied out to right. Our bats were silent as we couldn’t get anything going.Pitching Duel Kept it Tied Until the 6th
Both teams were in a pitching duel for the first five innings. Yainer Diaz and Jon Singleton each made contact but couldn’t find the gaps, leaving our offense scoreless. Our defense held strong too, with Jake Meyers and the outfield making key plays to keep it tied.Padres Take the Lead
In the bottom of the 6th, Manny Machado homered to left center, breaking the tie and putting the Padres up 1-0. Our offense continued to struggle in the 7th and 8th, with Alvarez, Bregman, and Diaz each grounding out or flying out.Padres Extend Their Lead
The 8th inning was particularly brutal. After bringing in Ort to relieve Valdez, the Padres tagged him with back-to-back-to-back homers by Fernando Tatis Jr., Manny Machado, and Donovan Solano. The score shot up to 4-0, and despite our efforts, the deficit proved too much to overcome.Final Push Falls Short
We had a glimmer of hope in the 9th inning when Mauricio Dubón reached on an infield single, and Jose Altuve got on base due to a fielding error by Xander Bogaerts. But Yordan Alvarez struck out swinging, and Alex Bregman flied out to right, sealing our fate at 0-4.Looking Forward
