Astros fans, it's always a bitter pill to swallow when we come so close but fall just short. Last night’s game against the Blue Jays was a rollercoaster of emotions. Despite our valiant efforts, we ended up losing 6-7. Let's break down the highlights and key moments.

First Few Inning Struggles​

In the top of the 1st, Jose Altuve started strong with a single to left, but our momentum was quickly quashed by a double play. In contrast, the Blue Jays took an early lead when Vladimir Guerrero Jr. scored on a single by Justin Turner.

The second and third innings saw more woes for us with Spencer Horwitz homering and George Springer hitting a three-run homer, bringing the score to a tough 5-0.

Astros Fight Back! ​

The top of the 5th was a turning point. Jon Singleton reached base with an infield single, and Jeremy Peña followed by getting hit by a pitch. After some smart baserunning and patient at-bats, Altuve singled to drive in a run, and Yordan Alvarez hit a majestic three-run homer! Suddenly we were back in the game with the score at 5-7.

Defensive Heroics and Final Push​

Our bullpen did a solid job from the 5th inning onward, keeping the Blue Jays from adding to their lead. Guillermo Martinez and Bryan Abreu kept us in the game with some clutch pitching.

In the top of the 8th, Alvarez took advantage of a Blue Jays error and scored on a groundout to bring us within one run. In the final inning, Peña got our hopes up with a double to left, but despite the effort from Trey Cabbage pinch-hitting and Altuve’s heroics, it wasn’t meant to be.
