Tough Day at Fenway
The Kansas City Royals squared off against the Boston Red Sox in what turned out to be a tough game at Fenway Park. The final score was 0-5, with the Royals struggling at the plate all game.Missed Opportunities Early
The top of the 1st inning saw us go down quickly with back-to-back outs. Adam Frazier struck out swinging, Bobby Witt Jr. fouled out, and Vinnie Pasquantino flied out to left. Unfortunately, this became a recurring theme throughout the game
.Defense Holds at First but Not for Long
The bottom of the 1st inning started off with a scare when Jarren Duran doubled to center. But our defense stood strong, with Masataka Yoshida striking out looking and Rafael Devers grounding out to second. Rob Refsnyder then lined out to center to end the inning
.Red Sox Take the Lead
The second inning, however, brought trouble. Reese McGuire doubled to right, scoring Dominic Smith. By the end of the inning, the Red Sox were up 1-0, and our troubles at the plate continued.Building the Lead
The Red Sox extended their lead in the 3rd inning with a ground rule double from Wilyer Abreu and a single from Dominic Smith bringing in runs. They put up 3 more runs, making it 4-0.Shut Down at the Plate
Despite valiant efforts, our Royals just couldn't get anything going. Salvador Perez and Hunter Renfroe both grounded out and struck out multiple times. Freddy Fermin managed to pop out in the 2nd and 7th innings.Pitching Struggles
The pitching change in the 6th inning when Bubic came in for Lugo didn't shift the momentum in our favor. Devers homered to left center in the 5th inning, making it 5-0. Despite a brief moment of hope in the 9th inning with singles from Perez and Renfroe, we just couldn't capitalize.Looking Ahead
