Tough Day at Wrigley
Fellow Cubs fans, today wasn't what we hoped for as we faced the Kansas City Royals right here at Wrigley Field. Although we started with the potential for a victory, the game quickly slipped through our fingers, ending with a 12-4 loss.A Promising Start
The game had a bright beginning when Carson Kelly hammered a homer to left in the bottom of the 2nd inning, awakening the crowd and tying the score. The excitement didn't stop there; later, Matt Shaw smacked a massive 385-foot homer bringing in Dansby Swanson and Justin Turner, giving us a 4-1 lead!
Royals’ Rampage
Alas, what followed was a display from the Royals that we couldn't quite keep up with. Despite Perez and Caglianone firing home runs early on, our pitching took a hit in the 5th inning as errors and powerful slugs put the Royals ahead at 7-4. The turning point came with a series of plays that tipped the game's momentum and showcased how fragile our lead truly was.Closing Struggles
In the final stages, the Royals added four more runs in the 8th inning, including a strong showing from Salvador Perez—his second homer of the day. Our bullpen struggled to get the necessary outs, and although Kelly and Shaw continued their best efforts at the plate, the deficit proved insurmountable.Let’s Keep Our Heads Up
While today's loss stings
