Tough Day at the Office for Our Royals
Hey Royals fans, not the game we were hoping for today against the Cleveland Guardians. It was a rough outing from the start, and unfortunately, the Guardians got the best of us with a final score of 10-2.
Let's break down what happened.A Shaky Beginning
The first inning saw Vinnie Pasquantino attempting a promising start, but he grounded out to first after Mike Yastrzemski and Maikel Garcia met similar fates. In the bottom half, Cleveland's Kyle Manzardo doubled, bringing in Daniel Schneemann to put them on the board first. Not the start we wanted.Struggles Mount
Our boys struggled to string hits together. Salvador Perez and Adam Frazier grounded out in the second inning, and similar results followed as strikeouts from Tyler Massey and others halted our momentum. Meanwhile, the Guardians were quietly building their lead, adding two more runs by the third inning.Guardians' Massive Fourth Inning
The fourth inning was a disaster. Cleveland capitalized with a flurry of hits and mistakes on our end. A combination of doubles and singles, paired with an error by Maikel Garcia, resulted in a six-run inning. Notably, Nolan Jones hit a punishing double to bring in two runs. We switched pitchers and brought in Lynch IV, who eventually stopped the damage, but by then, it was 8-0.
Closing Attempts
In the final innings, our Royals couldn't muster much against Cleveland's pitching. Massey managed a single, but a quick double play squashed hopes of a late rally. In the ninth, Yastrzemski led off with a single and eventually scored, along with Tyler Tolbert, thanks to a clutch single from Jac Caglianone. But it was too little, too late.
Learning Experience
This game is definitely one to learn from. Despite a tough loss, there are always positives to grab from every situation and move forward. Shout out to everyone who stayed till the ninth and for the continued support through thick and thin.
