Tough Night in Milwaukee
Well, Royals fans, that was a tough one to swallow. The boys donned their cleats at Miller Park tonight, hoping to put up a fight against the Brewers. Unfortunately, it seems the baseball gods were not smiling upon us, with the final score sitting at 5-0 in favor of Milwaukee.
Opportunities Missed
The Royals had a couple of chances early in the game to put some runs on the board. In the top of the 2nd inning, MJ Melendez showed patience at the plate with a walk, followed by a well-placed double to center by Maikel Garcia that moved him to third base. Alas, Kyle Isbel popped out to third, leaving those runners stranded.
Brewers Capitalize on Mistakes
The Brewers opened the scoring in the bottom of the 3rd with a homer by Eric Haase. Things went further south in the same inning when Brice Turang scored after a throwing error by our shortstop, Bobby Witt Jr.. In the 6th inning, another error, this time from Kyle Isbel, allowed the Brewers to extend their lead further as they capitalized on the mistakes. And to seal the deal, Christian Yelich hammered a solo home run in the 8th, pushing the lead to 5-0.
On to the Next One
It wasn't the result we were hoping for, but hey, that's baseball! Our boys showed some grit, and we'll be back to fight another day. Hopefully, as the series continues, our hitters find their rhythm and our fielders clean up the defensive errors. Let's keep our chins up and look forward to the next opportunity to support the blue crew. Go Royals!
