Tough Day at the Office for the Royals 😓

It was a rough game for our Kansas City Royals as the Twins handed us a tough 3-13 loss. The hope was high going into the game, but it quickly turned into a challenging afternoon. Let's break down how it all went down.

Early Struggles Set the Tone for the Game

The top of the 1st inning was a quick one for the Royals. Michael Massey flied out, Bobby Witt Jr. struck out swinging, and Vinnie Pasquantino flied out to left.

In the bottom half, the Twins pounced on us right from the start. Willi Castro doubled, Royce Lewis singled to score Castro, Matt Wallner doubled, and then a costly throwing error by Maikel Garcia allowed both Lewis and Wallner to score. The Twins quickly found themselves up 3-0 with just one inning in the books.

Melendez and Perez Show Some Power 💪

MJ Melendez got us on the board with a solo homer in the 2nd inning, cutting the deficit to 3-1. It was a glimmer of hope, but the Twins responded in the 3rd with Jose Miranda driving in another run to extend their lead to 4-1.

Salvador Perez also homered in the 6th inning, a 430-foot bomb that reminded us all of why we love him. However, it was a lone highlight in an inning that ended with the Royals down 8-3.

Twins Keep Piling On 😔

Despite our efforts, the Twins kept adding to their lead. Christian Vázquez hit a solo home run in the 4th inning, and the floodgates really opened in the 6th and 7th innings. A 3-run shot from Max Kepler in the 6th and a 2-run homer from Kyle Farmer in the 7th sealed our fate.

It was a tough pill to swallow watching our bullpen struggle, and by the end of the game, the Twins led 13-3.

Final Thoughts

It's hard to find silver linings in a game like this, but the home runs from MJ Melendez and Salvador Perez were certainly highlights. Michael Massey had a decent day at the plate with a single and a double, but we couldn't string together enough hits to make a comeback.

We'll need to regroup and focus on the next game. Baseball's a game of ebbs and flows, and we'll be cheering on our Royals every step of the way! Keep the faith, Royals fans!
