Tough Day at Wrigley 😔

It was a rough outing for our Los Angeles Angels as they fell 5-0 to the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. The Cubs' pitching was on point, shutting our bats down completely. While we had glimpses of hope, it just wasn’t meant to be. Let’s break down the game and see where things went sideways...

First Inning: A Glimmer of Hope 🌟

In the top of the first inning, Brandon Drury singled to center, giving us a sliver of excitement early in the game. Unfortunately, Taylor Ward and Willie Calhoun couldn’t capitalize on it, leaving us scoreless. On the pitching side, a strong start as we managed to retire the Cubs in order.

Third Inning: Cubs Break Through 😩

Things started to unravel in the bottom of the third inning. The Cubs notched their first run when Miguel Amaya singled to left, allowing Dansby Swanson to score. Nico Hoerner followed with a sacrifice fly that brought Miles Mastrobuoni home, pushing Cubs ahead 2-0.

Fifth Inning: Cubs Extend Their Lead 😢

The nightmare continued in the fifth inning. Miguel Amaya doubled to start things off, and Nico Hoerner singled to advance him to third. A grounding into double play by Michael Busch scored Amaya, putting the Cubs up 3-0. Sadly, our offense was still struggling to find any rhythm.

Seventh Inning: Another Blow 💔

Just when it seemed like our pitchers had settled, Michael Busch hit a two-run homer to right, scoring Nico Hoerner in the bottom of the seventh inning. That sealed the deal as the Cubs extended their lead to 5-0.

Final Push Fell Short 😥

We had our chance in the top of the ninth inning. With Taylor Ward reaching on an infield single and Kevin Pillar coming in for Willie Calhoun, the bases were loaded with Logan O'Hoppe's walk. But then, Zach Neto struck out swinging to end our hopes. It was a frustrating end to a challenging game.

Stay Positive, Halos! 🌟

On a positive note, it’s just one game. We’ve had our moments and ups and downs, but we’ll bounce back. Let’s stay behind our Halos and hope for better results in the next game. Keep your heads up, Angels fans! We’ve got this! 🔴👼

Til next time, let’s go Angels! 🚀
