Initial Excitement with a Surprising Lead
We had a promising start in Philadelphia! The top of the 4th inning was electric, as Taylor Ward kickstarted our offense with a solo shot to center, followed by a fireworks display from Jo Adell with another homer. Our lineup came alive, and with Yoan Moncada's single followed by crucial hits from LaMonte Wade Jr., Luis Rengifo, and Zach Neto, we poured on the runs to take a 3-1 lead!
The Mid-Inning Challenge and Retaliation
The excitement continued into the 6th! Yoan Moncada extended our lead with a homer to right, making it 4-2. However, the resilience of the Phillies was unfaltering. Kyle Schwarber countered with a three-run blast, and suddenly the lead slipped away as the Phillies jumped to 7-4. It was a tense moment, but Taylor Ward wouldn't give up! He drove in Nolan Schanuel with a double in the 7th, clawing a run back to trail by just two runs.Fighting Until the Final Out
With the Phillies expanding their lead, thanks to a late homer by Bryce Harper, we faced a 9-5 deficit entering the 9th. Despite Schanuel and Neto putting up a good fight, Strahm closed it out for the Phillies. While the result was not in our favor, the spirit of our Angels shone through. From Trout's doubles to Ward and Adell's homers, the heart of Anaheim stayed on full display, leaving us dedicated fans looking forward to the next game!
