Rockies vs. Dodgers Game Recap: A Tough Night for Colorado
Hey Rockies fans , it's time to break down a rough one. Last night, our Colorado Rockies faced off against the Los Angeles Dodgers and unfortunately, it didn't go as planned. The final score was a tough 13-2 in favor of the Dodgers. Let's dive into the details.
Promising Start Fueled by Charlie Blackmon and Ezequiel Tovar
The game started with some hope. In the bottom of the 1st inning, Charlie Blackmon led off with a single to left, and Ezequiel Tovar followed it up with a single to right, moving Blackmon to third. Ryan McMahon then came through with a sacrifice fly to right, allowing Blackmon to score. Rockies took an early 1-0 lead, but that joy was short-lived.
Dodgers' Big Inning E. Hernández Shows Up Early
The Dodgers retaliated quickly in the top of the 2nd inning, where Enrique Hernández hit a 430-foot homer to center, driving in three runs. Suddenly, the Rockies were down 3-1. By the end of the 3rd inning, Ezequiel Tovar managed to give us a little bit of hope with a solo home run of his own, making it 4-2 Dodgers, but that would be the last run we scored.
Missed Opportunities and Tough Breaks
Throughout the game, there were some missed opportunities. Nolan Jones and Sam Hilliard both had moments where they could have made a difference but ended up hitting into double plays. Even a runner on third in the 7th inning couldn’t get us back into the game. The Dodgers just kept piling on, making it harder and harder to mount any sort of comeback.
Final Blow in the 9th Inning
The final nail in the coffin came in the top of the 9th inning, when the Dodgers scored four more runs, pushing the score to a painful 13-2. The Rockies tried to show some life in the bottom of the 9th with Ezequiel Tovar singling to right, but it was too little too late. A double play by Jordan Beck pinch-hitting for Ryan McMahon killed any chance of a last-minute rally.
Final Thoughts
This was a tough game for sure, Rockies fans . There were moments of excitement and some strong individual performances, but it just wasn’t our night. Hopefully, the team can regroup and give us a better performance in the next game. Let's keep supporting our Rockies and look forward to a bounce-back!
Forever a Rockies fan,
Stuart
