A Heartbreaker in Miami
The Los Angeles Dodgers put up a valiant fight against the Miami Marlins but ultimately fell short with a final score of 11-9. Despite a promising start and some high points throughout the game, we couldn't overcome the Marlins' offense.Early Struggles and Ohtani's Power
The game started with our big bats silent. Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, and Freddie Freeman all went down in order in the first inning. The Marlins took advantage and built an early 4-0 lead by the end of the 2nd inning. However, in the top of the 3rd, our boys answered back. Hunter Feduccia singled, setting the stage for Shohei Ohtani to launch a two-run homer, cutting the deficit to 4-2. Then, Max Muncy delivered a clutch double to drive in two more, tying the game at 4-4.
Trading Blows
The Marlins quickly regained the lead with a solo homer by Otto Lopez in the bottom of the 3rd. Our Miguel Rojas responded with a solo shot of his own in the top of the 4th, tying it up at 5-5. The back-and-forth continued with the Marlins extending their lead to 7-5 by the end of the 4th inning.Freddie Freeman's sacrifice fly in the top of the 5th brought us within one, but Miami kept the pressure on, eventually extending their lead to 9-6 by the end of the 6th inning.
Final Push Comes Up Short
The Dodgers showed resilience, with Max Muncy again coming through in the top of the 7th, driving in Freddie Freeman to make it a 9-7 game. However, the Marlins weren't done, as Jake Burger launched a two-run homer in the bottom of the 8th to put Miami up 11-7.In the top of the 9th, we made it interesting. Mookie Betts singled and Teoscar Hernandez followed suit. Max Muncy, our standout hitter of the night, doubled again to bring both runners home, closing the gap to 11-9. Unfortunately, Tommy Edman struck out looking, ending our comeback attempt.
Looking Ahead
Despite the loss, there were some bright spots. Max Muncy was outstanding with 5 RBIs, and Shohei Ohtani showed his power once again. We saw resilience and fight from our boys, and we’ll bounce back stronger in the next game. Let’s keep our heads high, Dodgers Nation! On to the next one! Go Dodgers!
