Tough Start for the Yankees
The Yankees faced off against the Dodgers today, and it was a rocky start for us from the get-go. Things looked promising after Shohei Ohtani walked at the top of the 1st, but then Freddie Freeman made sure the Dodgers jumped on the scoreboard quickly with a towering two-run homer to right. Our lineup struggled to find its footing early in the game, with Aaron Judge striking out swinging and Giancarlo Stanton hitting into a fielder's choice to end the inning. The Dodgers were up 2-0 after a hearty swing from Freeman.Dodgers Extend Lead
The 3rd inning saw Tommy Edman capitalize on his walk, as Mookie Betts drove him home with a single to right, pushing the Dodgers' lead to 3-0. Our pitchers worked their way out of a tough situation to avoid further damage. It wasn't until the 6th inning that the Dodgers managed to tack on another run, thanks to some aggressive base running by Gavin Lux and a timely single by Enrique Hernández. That left us in a tough spot, down 4-0.Yankees' Comeback Falls Short
Despite being down by four, Alex Verdugo brought some life back into Yankee Stadium in the 9th inning with a two-run blast to right center, scoring Anthony Rizzo who had walked earlier. The Yankees were finally on the board! However, with our boys unable to bring in more runs, the game ended with a 4-2 loss. It's always disappointing to see our Yanks fall short, but as fans, we know they'll bounce back. Tomorrow's another day to even up the series!
