Pirates Start Strong
What a game, Bucs fans! Our Pittsburgh Pirates brought the energy early against the Los Angeles Dodgers tonight. Right from the jump, Jared Triolo set the tone with a ground rule double to lead off the bottom of the first. Quickly, Nick Gonzales and Bryan Reynolds drew walks, setting the stage for Tommy Pham to smash a double to the right field, sending both of them home. And let's not forget Andrew McCutchen making his presence known with an infield single, pushing Reynolds across the plate.
Dodgers Rally Back, But Pirates Hold Firm
The Dodgers didn't stay quiet for long, though, with Shohei Ohtani homering in the third inning, trimming our lead slightly. By the fourth inning, the Dodgers managed to claw their way back to a 4-4 tie. But fear not, Pirates faithful! Spencer Horwitz came through in the sixth inning with a vital fielder's choice that set up Henry Davis to single and put us back on top. Then, Jared Triolo continued his heroics, driving in two more runs, making it 7-4 in our favor!
Clutch Performance Seals the Win!
The tension ratcheted up in the final innings as the Dodgers attempted another comeback. Oneil Cruz had a key groundout in the seventh, giving us an extra insurance run to make it 8-6. Our very own Nick Gonzales then capped off our scoring with a clutch single in the 8th, bringing Triolo home and pushing our lead to 9-6. Despite a late run by the Dodgers in the ninth, our bullpen, including Santana, closed the door for a final score of 9-7.
A fantastic win for our Pirates! Let's carry this momentum forward!
