Tough Loss in Petco Park
Hey Padres Nation,
Early Sparks
In the bottom of the 2nd inning, things looked bright as Gavin Sheets singled to center and was followed by Xander Bogaerts with another single. We were so close to lighting up the scoreboard earlier, but Sheets was thrown out at home. Finally, it was Martin Maldonado who showed patience and walked, bringing Bogaerts home to put the first point on the board for us. We ended the inning with a 1-0 lead.
Dodgers' Comeback
The Dodgers, unfortunately, found their stride by the 5th inning with Michael Conforto hitting a homer to tie us up. Then came the top of the 6th, and Teoscar Hernández struck a big homer, pushing them ahead. In the 6th inning, Sheets came through again with a sacrifice fly to allow Manny Machado to score, cutting their lead to two runs. But that was the last run we managed to add.
Finishing Struggles
In the final stretch, the Dodgers managed to sneak in another run in the 9th with Shohei Ohtani tripling and then scoring, bringing the game to its final score. Our guys struggled to get back on the board, with our ninth-inning batters going down swinging. Despite some great efforts, we couldn't connect the way we needed to tonight.
Let's shake it off and get ready for the next one, Padres fans! Our boys will regroup, and we'll be right there cheering them on. Onwards and upwards! Go Padres!
