Ah, fellow Friar Faithful, our boys sure gave us a nail-biter this time around, taking the game into extra innings against those Dodgers. It was an edge-of-your-seat match that unfortunately didn’t end how we hoped, but let's dive into the action that made this one so memorable.

First Impressions and Firepower ​

The game started with fireworks as Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman made their presence known, putting the Dodgers up by two runs in the first inning. But our Padres wasted no time answering back. Fernando Tatis Jr. and Manny Machado led the charge, with Jackson Merrill adding a sac fly to tie things up at 2-2 by the end of the first inning.

The Mid-Game Dance ​

The second and third innings saw both teams battling back and forth, swapping leads like hot potatoes. Luis Arraez and Cronenworth put us ahead, capitalizing on Dodger mistakes. But not to be outdone, Will Smith smacked a homer for LA, showcasing the heated rivalry. Yet, Tyler Wade delivered a clutch triple in the bottom of the third, putting us back on top at 6-5.

Endgame Drama ​

The latter innings were fraught with tension as the teams locked horns at 6-6, with errors and strategic plays from both sides keeping us on tenterhooks. By the 10th, the Dodgers managed two more runs, and despite Jackson Merrill's best efforts with a fantastic double, we couldn’t quite claw our way back to equalize. The sighs echoed through Petco Park as the game closed at 8-7 in favor of the Dodgers.

Pride Despite the Odds ​

While this one slipped through our fingers, the effort from our Padres was nothing short of heroic. Stand tall, Padres fans! We’ll take this energy into the next showdown. Until then, let’s keep rooting for our boys as they pursue victory! #FriarFaithfulForever
