Cardinals Face Tough Outing Against the Dodgers
Well, Cardinals fans, it was a tough night at Busch Stadium as our beloved St. Louis Cardinals fell to the Los Angeles Dodgers with a final score of 7-3. It wasn't for lack of effort, but the Dodgers found ways to capitalize on their opportunities, and a few unfortunate bounces didn't go our way.Dodgers Start Strong
The Dodgers got the ball rolling in the 2nd inning when Max Muncy and Will Smith set the table for Tommy Edman and Kim, who knocked in three quick runs. Edman managed a double and a sacrifice fly through the game, further adding to the Dodgers' 4-0 lead. Despite a solid outing from our pitching staff, including McGreevy's attempts to manage damage, the Dodgers were relentless.Cardinals Rally Comes Up Short
Our boys showed some life in the middle innings, highlighted by a rally attempt in the 5th. Alec Burleson and Pedro Pages got some momentum going, and when Masyn Winn doubled, it felt like the start of something special. Ryan Vilade and Willson Contreras also contributed with hits, adding to our score and making it 4-2 by the 6th. Alas, despite sensational efforts, including a great sacrifice fly from Burleson, the Dodgers' pitching changes kept us at bay.Dodgers' Insurance Seals the Deal
The Dodgers added some insurance in the 8th inning, with Betts homering to left and further capitalizing on a sacrificed situation. The Cardinals' bullpen tried to weather the storm with Svanson and others stepping in, but the efficient Dodgers' runs carried them further ahead, ultimately pulling away 7-3.Final Thoughts
Despite the loss, there were promising signs for Cardinals fans. Willson Contreras put on a great display, and Brendan Donovan again proved as reliable as ever with his bat. Dodgers’ victories can be bitter pills to swallow, but our spirit as fans remains unbroken.
