The game began with both teams not getting on the board through the first four innings. Pitchers on both sides were controlling the game, but patience would soon pay off for our Cubs. The breakthrough came in the fifth inning when Nico Hoerner singled and showed some hustle by stealing second. 
Then, up stepped Dansby Swanson who unleashed a monster home run to left-center field, bringing Hoerner home and putting the Cubs ahead 2-0! Shortly after, Miguel Amaya doubled, and Kyle Tucker tripled to bring him home. Seiya Suzuki later entered the frame with another big hit ⛷ - a two-run homer that brought our lead to a magnificent 5-0!
Closing It Out 
Despite some late resistance by the Marlins in the 7th inning, when Derek Hill hit a two-run homer, the Cubs remained sturdy until the bitter end. The relief pitchers, including Palencia and Pomeranz, ensured that the Marlins didn't see another glimmer of hope.
