A Tough Outing in Cincinnati
Well, Marlins fans, it was a rough day at Great American Ball Park as the Miami Marlins took on the Cincinnati Reds and ended up with a 7-2 loss.
It was clear from the beginning that the Reds came ready to play, but our Marlins fought until the very end!Early Struggles
The game started off with some promise as Agustin Ramirez doubled to right in the first inning, giving hope for an early lead. However, Heriberto Hernandez and Otto Lopez both struck out swinging, and that first-inning opportunity slipped through our fingers.The Reds, however, pounced right from the get-go. Elly De La Cruz doubled in the bottom of the first, bringing home Matt McLain and soon followed by runs from both Austin Hays and Tyler Stephenson. The end of the first inning saw the Reds ahead 3-0, setting the tone for the remainder of the game.
Held At Bay
The Marlins found it tough to get runners across the plate. Despite Nick Fortes and Xavier Edwards getting on base during the third inning with an infield single and a bunt single respectively, a ground double play put an end to that promising rally.Reds' Noelvi Marte made a strong statement with a two-run homer, extending their lead to 5-0 in the fourth. While the Marlins had some hits, they struggled to capitalize on the opportunities throughout the game.
Late Attempt to Rally
Our boys finally broke through in the eighth inning. Nick Fortes reached on an infield single, and a single from Heriberto Hernandez brought Fortes home for our first run of the game, making it 6-1.In a brief ninth-inning resurgence, Connor Norby crushed a homer to right field, which gave us another run, bringing the final score to 7-2.
We saw flashes of great potential with Nick Fortes and Connor Norby, and we appreciate everyone who tuned in to cheer for our Marlins until the very end.
