A Stubborn Start in Cleveland
Despite a shaky start in the first inning, our Cleveland Guardians showed resilience and grit against the Miami Marlins. The inning kicked off with the Marlins jumping to a quick lead, as errors by Austin Hedges allowed the Marlins to score three runs. But our boys did not let that phase them. With Steven Kwan and Angel Martinez setting the pace, and Jose Ramirez driving in that first run, we quickly closed the gap. By the end of a chaotic first inning, the score was tied 3-3!The Comeback Trail
As the innings rolled on, the Guardians defense tightened, and the bats began to heat up. We managed to snag runs every chance we got. Big shout-out to Kyle Manzardo who scored Kwan in the bottom of the fifth to notch up the game at 4-4. Meanwhile, Gabriel Arias brought Ramirez home with a sacrifice fly. By the end of the fifth, we edged ahead 5-4.
Seventh Heaven and The Finish Line
The seventh inning turned into a paradise for the Guardians. Our hitters put more daylight between us and the Marlins. Bryan Rocchio brought in another run, followed by a clutch hit from Hedges which extended our lead, making it a commanding 9-4. Whose adrenaline wasn’t pumping then? Pitchers Hunter Gaddis, Davis Enright, and of course, Smith held strong, closing down any chance of a Marlins revival. With a fabulous 9-4 win in the books, the Guardians nailed a performance packed with memorable plays.
