Tough Start for the Marlins
Things didn't kick off on the right foot for our guys. The first inning saw Jazz Chisholm Jr., Bryan De La Cruz, and Jake Burger all fail to get on base. It was even more frustrating to see the Astros draw first blood with a single from Jose Altuve and Yainer Diaz bringing him home.Second Inning Struggles Continue
Josh Bell gave us hope with a single, but it was quickly dashed as Emmanuel Rivera grounded into a double play. The Astros capitalized on every opportunity, adding three more runs thanks to a homer by Joey Loperfido. By the end of the second, we were down 5-0.Minor Relief in the Fifth Inning
Finally, in the fifth inning, we got on the board. Xavier Edwards singled to drive in Emmanuel Rivera, giving us our first (and sadly, only) run of the game. More was needed, but Ali Sanchez and Jazz Chisholm Jr. struck out, leaving us trailing at 6-1.Astros Seal the Deal in the Sixth Inning
The Astros wouldn't let us feel good for long, adding three more runs in the sixth inning. Yainer Diaz single-handedly drove in two more, extending their lead to 9-1. Our pitching change didn't stem the tide, and it was clear we were struggling both offensively and defensively.Silent Eighth and Ninth Innings
Despite some last-minute changes and a new pitcher, Emmanuel Rivera, our bats remained silent. Bryan De La Cruz, Jake Burger, and Nick Gordon all struck out in the ninth, confirming a tough loss for our Marlins.Looking Forward
We've had better days, Marlins fans. With a final score of 9-1 favoring the Astros, it's back to the drawing board for us. Let's keep rooting for our boys and hope they bounce back stronger in the next game!Scoreboard for Marlins @ Astros (July 11th, 2024)
