Tough Game for the Marlins 😞

We took on the New York Mets with high hopes, but the game didn't go our way. The Mets' offense was too much for us as they cruised to a 4-0 victory. Here's a breakdown of what happened inning by inning.

First Inning: Early Troubles

Our first inning saw Xavier Edwards flying out, Jake Burger fouling out to the catcher, and Jesus Sánchez striking out swinging. Not the start we hoped for. The Mets immediately put pressure on us with Francisco Lindor hitting a homer to right center. We were down 0-1 after the first.

Second Inning: More Struggles

In the second inning, Jonah Bride grounded out to the pitcher, Derek Hill lined out to center, and Kyle Stowers walked but Otto Lopez struck out swinging right after. The Mets extended their lead with a solo homer by Pete Alonso. The inning ended with us down 0-2.

Third Inning: Defensive Mishaps

Vidal Bruján gave us a glimmer of hope with a single but got caught in a rundown after a double play by Edwards. The Mets added another run as Brandon Nimmo tripled and later scored on an error by Bruján. We found ourselves trailing 0-3.

Fourth Inning: More Missed Opportunities

Burger doubled but we couldn’t capitalize as Sánchez, Bride, and Hill couldn't bring him home. The Mets tacked on another run from a double by Mark Vientos, bringing Lindor in. We were down 0-4.

Fifth to Eighth Inning: Struggles Continue

Despite a double by Lopez in the fifth and by Nick Fortes in the eighth, we couldn't get anyone across the plate. Our pitching staff, including Ramirez and de Geus, did a good job holding the Mets at bay, but our offense remained silent.

Ninth Inning: Game Over

Hopes of a late rally were dashed quickly. Burger got on base being hit by a pitch, but Sánchez struck out looking, Bride fouled out, and Hill struck out swinging to end the game. Final score: Mets 4, Marlins 0.

Final Thoughts 🐟

It was a tough game to watch as a Marlins fan. Our boys fought hard, but the Mets' early runs and our lack of offensive execution were the key differences. We'll regroup and hope for a better performance in the next game. Let's go Marlins! 🌊
