Early Tensions
The game started with little action in the first inning, as both teams held their ground. Our very own Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Bryan De La Cruz were unable to make an impact early on, with both striking out and grounding out, respectively. The Phillies matched that with their own struggles, leaving the score tied at zero.Gordon's Power Surge
The highlight of the second inning was undoubtedly Nick Gordon, who launched a solo homer to right field, giving us an early 1-0 lead!
Phillies Strike Back
The Phillies responded in the third inning with a solo home run by Garrett Stubbs to tie it up.
Lopez and Fortes Team Up
The fifth inning saw another push by the Phillies, who scored on a sacrifice fly by Alec Bohm. Now down 2-1, our spirits remained high, and it was Otto Lopez and Nick Fortes who rose to the occasion in the seventh. Lopez’s double, followed by Fortes’ game-tying double and Jazz Chisholm Jr.'s single, secured a 3-2 lead for us!
Closing It Out
From the eighth inning onwards, it became a battle of the bullpens. Andrew Nardi, A.J. Puk, and J.T. Chargois all stepped up, keeping the Phillies at bay. The Phillies tried to rally with pinch hitters like Whit Merrifield and Cristian Pache, but our relievers, especially Tanner Scott, shut them down, striking out the side to seal a hard-fought 3-2 victory!Victory Reactions
What a game, Fish fans!
