Tough Loss Against the Marlins

Well, fellow Bucs fans, it was a tough one tonight as we faced off against the Miami Marlins at PNC Park. We dug ourselves into a bit of a hole early, and despite a late-game surge, we couldn't quite close the gap. The Marlins took this one with a final score of 3-2. Let's dive into how it all went down...

Early Setbacks

The game started out quietly, but things took a turn in the top of the 3rd inning when the Marlins' Nick Fortes blasted a two-run homer off our starter. Following that, an error in the 4th inning cost us another run. It wasn't the start we were hoping for, as we found ourselves trailing 3-0.

Late-Inning Fireworks ✨

The pitching was solid for both sides, keeping the game within reach. Our bats came alive in the bottom of the 8th when Ke'Bryan Hayes launched a solo shot to left-center for 413 feet, finally putting us on the board. Not to be outdone, Oneil Cruz followed up with a 416-foot homer to right-center, bringing us to within one run. It was a moment of hope as the crowd erupted!

Nail-Biting Finish

Heading into the bottom of the 9th, the Pirates were down by just one run. Spencer Horwitz got us started by reaching base after being hit by a pitch, and with Jared Triolo pinch-running, Nick Gonzales singled to right to advance the runners. Unfortunately, as much as we willed it, we couldn't manage to bring them home. The Marlins held on to their lead, ending the game 3-2.

We may have ended up on the wrong side of the scoreboard tonight, but the late-game effort was an encouraging sign. Let's keep that fight going, Pirates fans! The rest of the series awaits, and I believe our Buccos have what it takes to turn things around. 🏴‍☠️ See you all at the ballpark!
