An Electric Start!
We kicked off the game with a bang! Isiah Kiner-Falefa got us started with a single to center, and then Bryan Reynolds followed suit with another single, advancing Kiner-Falefa to third. Oneil Cruz grounded out to second, allowing Kiner-Falefa to score. We were on the board first! Andrew McCutchen walked, setting up a golden opportunity, and Joey Bart didn’t disappoint, grounding into a fielder's choice to allow Reynolds to score. Early advantage to Pirates: 2-0!Holding the Line
Mlodzinski and Wentz were stellar on the mound, holding the Marlins scoreless through the first three innings. Our defense looked impenetrable, and the crowd was loving it. Each play was precise, and the Pirates exhibited top-notch fielding with Nick Gonzales and Billy Cook making key plays.Breaking Through in the Fifth Inning
The fifth inning was all about power hitting. Jared Triolo doubled to left, and Isiah Kiner-Falefa grounded out but moved Triolo over. The ever-reliable Bryan Reynolds singled to center bringing Triolo home. Then Andrew McCutchen absolutely crushed it with a homer to left center, sweeping Reynolds and Cruz home and putting us up 6-1! What a massive hit!Pressure Mounts But We Hold Strong!
The Marlins took a run back in the 5th and kept pressing. In the 6th, they scored again, bringing the score to 6-3. However, our bullpen stepped up when we needed it most. David Bednar, Roberto Santana, and ultimately Chapman held their ground.Nail-biting Finish
The 9th inning was tense, especially when Pereda and Sanoja both singled, putting runners on base. Burger then singled to score Pereda, but our reliever Chapman kept his cool under pressure, striking out Lopez to close out the game.Final Score: 4-6, Pirates Win!
A well-deserved victory for our Pirates! From the powerful bats of McCutchen and Reynolds to the steadfast pitching, it was a collective effort. Onward and upward, Bucs fans! Let’s keep this momentum rolling!Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below!
