Padres Start Slow, but Come Back Strong!
Initially, it seemed like the Marlins were going to run away with the game tonight. In the top of the 1st inning, the Marlins jumped to an early 2-0 lead with Jesus Sanchez and Agustin Ramirez delivering at the plate. The top of the 2nd saw Sanchez making our hearts sink with a massive 417-foot homer to center, putting the Marlins up 3-0. But hey, we Padres fans never lose hope!
Slow Progress, but Then We Engage!
The Padres were largely quiet in the first few innings, struggling to put runners across the plate. Xander Bogaerts finally put us on the board in the 4th inning with a clutch single, stealing second, and scoring thanks to a double by Jose Iglesias. Teamwork was our savior, as Jake Cronenworth also made it home, closing their lead to 3-2. The battle was on!The Rally and Triumph!
The cat-and-mouse game continued into the 8th inning until Manny Machado stepped up big, hammering a 406-foot home run to tie the game at 3-3. Cheers erupted from the stands as we got back into it! Finally, in the bottom of the 11th inning, we stayed cool under pressure. After Wade made it to third, thanks to some strategic base running after a wild pitch, another wild pitch from Gibson allowed Wade to sprint home and seal the comeback victory with a 4-3 win for the Padres! What a game!
Great job to all our Padres for pulling through when it counted the most. Let’s keep this momentum going! Go Padres!
