The game started on a quieter note, with both teams holding their ground. However, things started to heat up in the 2nd inning when Nick Fortes doubled to center, bringing Nick Gordon home and putting the first run on the board . Shortly after, Jazz Chisholm Jr. singled to right, driving Fortes in and doubling our lead to 2-0.The Padres managed to snag a run back in the 3rd thanks to a solo homer by Ha-Seong Kim, but that's as close as they got for the rest of the game. Our pitchers kept the Padres hitters in check, while the Marlins offense kept adding to the scoreboard.
Middle Innings: Padding the Lead
In the 5th inning, the Marlins offense exploded . Josh Bell and Jake Burger set the table, and then hits by Gordon, Otto Lopez, and Vidal Brujan brought everyone home. By the end of the 5th, the score was a comfortable 6-1 in our favor. The highlight was Lopez reaching on an infield single due to a throwing error by Padres third baseman Manny Machado, shaking San Diego's confidence further.Late Innings: Marlins Seal the Deal
Jesus Sanchez's 412-foot moonshot in the 6th inning was just the icing on the cake . Further runs in the 7th and the 9th, including Chisholm Jr.'s RBI triple and Fortes grounding out but still managing to bring Lopez home, secured our dominating win.Pitching wise, we were stellar.
