Tough Start for the Jays
The Marlins took an early lead in the top of the 1st inning. Jake Burger singled, followed by a single from Xavier Edwards. With runners on second and third, Jonah Bride managed an infield single, driving both runners in. Our Jays couldn't capitalize on a bases-loaded situation in the bottom half of the inning.Missed Opportunities
In the second and third innings, we had some chances, but couldn't convert them into runs. Steward Berroa and Joey Loperfido gave it their all but struck out or grounded out before any runs could be scored. The Marlins kept their 2-0 lead intact.Marlins Extend the Lead
The Marlins pushed their lead to 3-0 in the top of the 6th inning when Otto Lopez doubled, scoring Bride. Our relief pitchers stepped in, but the damage was done, and we failed to produce in the bottom half of the inning.A Glimmer of Hope
Our Jays finally got on the board in the bottom of the 7th inning! Luis De Los Santos doubled and was driven in by Berroa's single. Loperfido grounded out but advanced Berroa and allowed De Los Santos to score, making it 3-1.Last Attempt in the 9th
In the 9th inning, there was a flicker of hope when Davis Schneider walked. Pinch hitter Addison Barger replaced De Los Santos but was unable to bring Schneider home. The game ended with Loperfido striking out looking, sealing a 3-1 win for the Marlins.Final Thoughts
Despite the tough loss, we're proud of our guys for fighting till the end. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Jonatan Clase showed some patience at the plate, though we couldn't get those crucial hits when they mattered. We'll get 'em next time! Let's keep our heads up, Jays fans!Scoreboard for Marlins @ Blue Jays (September 29th, 2024)
