An Early Blow from the Nationals
The game started on a quiet note for our Marlins. Despite a promising single by Jazz Chisholm Jr., we couldn’t capitalize on it in the first inning. .Offensive Struggles Continue
Our bats seemed to struggle early. In the second and third innings, we couldn’t manage to get anyone across the plate. Jesus Sanchez did reach on a fielding error, but that didn’t lead to any runs. On the defensive side, we did a good job containing the Nationals despite a couple of base runners.Tying It Up in the 5th
The tide turned a bit in the fifth when Jazz Chisholm Jr. came through with an infield single that scored Emmanuel Rivera, tying the game at 1-1
. It was a short-lived celebration, though, as the Nationals responded immediately with a solo homer from Young in the bottom half of the inning.Missed Opportunities
In the top of the 6th, we had a chance to even things up after a single by Josh Bell and Tim Anderson. Unfortunately, a line-out by Otto Lopez ended that threat. Later, Vargas doubled in the bottom of the inning, scoring Senzel to give the Nationals a 3-1 lead. The bullpen certainly had its hands full.Final Push 
The 7th and 8th innings saw our bullpen holding the Nationals at bay, but we couldn't make the most of our chances. Bryan De La Cruz singled in the 8th, yet we couldn't rally smoothly for more runs. In the 9th, Otto Lopez doubled with one out, but pinch hitters Nick Gordon and Vidal Brujan couldn’t drive him in to extend our hopes.Final Thoughts
It was a tough game to swallow, folks. The Nationals clinched a 3-1 win, but let’s keep our heads up. We saw some good defensive plays and pitching that kept us in the game for the majority. We’ll bounce back stronger
