Nationals Strike Early
What a game, Nats fans! We came out swinging from the bottom of the 1st. Dylan Crews showcased his speed with an infield single, followed by a stolen base. Although James Wood and Andres Chaparro struck out, Jose Tena walked, allowing Crews to steal third. The magic moment occurred when Luis Garcia Jr. reached on an error by the Marlins pitcher, making it possible for both Crews and Tena to score. We ended the inning with a solid 2-0 lead.Pitching Dominance
Our pitchers kept the Marlins' bats quiet through most of the game. After the first inning, the Marlins couldn’t muster much until Otto Lopez hit a homer in the top of the 4th, narrowing our lead to 2-1.Insurance Runs in the Seventh
The bottom of the 7th was where we extended our lead. Luis Garcia Jr. hit a monstrous home run to right field (415 feet! ). Then Drew Millas reached on an error, stole second, and was driven home by Jacob Young's single, pushing our score to 4-1.Locking It Down
Our bullpen was lights out. Ferrer and Finnegan secured the win by shutting down any late attempts by the Marlins to rally. Finnegan closed it out in the 9th with finesse, despite a two-out single by Jesus Sanchez.Final Thoughts
This game was a team effort. From great baserunning and hitting to stellar pitching, the Nats came together for a strong 4-1 victory over the Marlins. Let’s keep this momentum going!Scoreboard for Marlins @ Nationals (September 13th, 2024)
