Nationals Secure a Solid Win Over the Marlins!
The Washington Nationals pulled off a convincing win against the Miami Marlins with a final score of 4-1. Let's dive into the highlights of this exciting game!Early Fight for Runs
The first inning saw no runs from either team, but the Marlins managed to slip one by in the top of the 2nd, bringing the score to 0-1. However, the Nationals responded swiftly. With a solo homer from Joey Gallo in the bottom of the 2nd, the Nats tied the game at 1-1.
Taking the Lead
The 4th inning brought some more excitement as the Nats pulled ahead. After Jose Tena reached on an infield single and stole second, Keibert Ruiz drove him in with a single to right, making it 2-1 in favor of the Nats.
Adding Insurance Runs
Jump to the 6th inning with the score still close, Jose Tena smashed a homer to center (412 feet) to increase our lead to 3-1. In the 8th inning, Juan Yepez added another insurance run with a solo shot to left-center (382 feet). This brought the score to 4-1, giving us some breathing room.
Lockdown Pitching
Our bullpen did an incredible job closing out the game. After R. Garcia and Law kept the Marlins silent in the 7th and 8th innings, Finnegan came in to shut the door in the 9th. He even induced a double play to erase Jonah Bride's leadoff single and struck out Otto Lopez to end the game.
