What a rollercoaster of a game, Marlins fans! Although we came up just short against the Nationals, there were some highlights to take away.

Early Chances but No Runs

The game started with Xavier Edwards drawing a walk and stealing second, which gave us early hope. However, Connor Norby flied out, and both Jake Burger and Jonah Bride struck out, leaving us scoreless in the first inning.

Breaking the Deadlock in the 3rd

Jhonny Pereda got on base due to a fielding error and made it to second. Connor Norby followed with a single, and Jake Burger brought Pereda home with a sacrifice fly to give us the lead. Finally, the scoreboard moved: Nationals - 0, Marlins - 1. 🎉

Nationals Strike Back

In the 4th inning, the Nationals roared back with a flurry of hits. Luis García Jr. singled to right, scoring Andres Chaparro. Then, Jose Tena singled, and another single by Keibert Ruiz brought home another run. Marlins fell behind: Nationals - 2, Marlins - 1. 😓

Wood's Big Fly

The 5th inning brought more trouble as James Wood homered to center, extending the Nationals' lead to 3-1. We couldn't answer back in the 5th or 6th innings. The tension was definitely building.

Bride's Hopeful Homer

Jonah Bride gave us a glimmer of hope with a solo home run (401 feet) in the top of the 7th, closing the gap to 3-2. It fired up the team and the fans alike, but we needed more.

Nationals Respond Again

Any hopes of stifling the Nationals' offense were dashed when James Wood hit another monster home run in the 8th inning. Another run added to their lead made the score 4-2. Not the way we wanted it to go. 😞

Final Push in the 9th

In the 9th, Jonah Bride singled and Otto Lopez followed suit, putting runners at the corners. David Hensley grounded out but managed to score Bride. We were now trailing by just one run. Nick Fortes came up but unfortunately flied out to left to end the game at Nationals - 4, Marlins - 3. So close, yet so far!

A tough loss, but we'll bounce back. Let’s keep our heads up, Marlins fans! 🌟
