A Tough Day at Wrigley Field
Well, folks, it was one of those days at Wrigley Field today. The Cubs fell 0-7 against the Brewers in a game that was as frustrating as it was disappointing. Despite some solid efforts, the bats just couldn’t connect when we needed them to, and the Brewers took advantage
Early Innings Promise, Unfulfilled
The first inning saw some promising plays, with Seiya Suzuki singling to center, but unfortunately, we left him stranded. Into the second inning, Pete Crow-Armstrong and Carson Kelly both walked, loading the bases with Owen Caissie at the plate, but alas, nothing came of it. Strikeouts and grounding saw us still trailing after four innings.Brewers' Batting Blows; Cubs Can't Counter
The big blow came in the 3rd inning when Brice Turang hammered a homer to left, putting the Brewers on the scoreboard. Caleb Durbin added to the lead with a 419-foot homer in the 5th, making it 2-0 in favor of the Brewers. The later innings saw the Brewers capitalize on bases-loaded situations, and a couple of Cubs errors only compounded the issue. The 8th inning was particularly rough, seeing the Brewers put four more on the board, leaving Cubbies fans feeling a bit deflated
Final Thoughts and Bright Spots
Despite the loss, there were moments that showcased our potential. The Cubs' pitching staff, particularly Drew Pomeranz and Brandon Little, had some good innings. It’s important to remember that one game doesn’t define a season, and as Cubs fans, we know the team can bounce back from this loss. The Cubs will need to regroup and find the spark that can ignite the bats in the next game. Let’s continue to cheer vigorously and support our team through thick and thin. On to the next one!
