The Brew Crew pulled off an exhilarating win today against the Chicago Cubs! In a game full of drama and excitement, our boys in blue managed to hold off a late surge by the Cubs to secure an 8-7 victory at Wrigley Field.
Early Fireworks for Brewers!
The excitement began right from the get-go. After a brief hiccup with Sal Frelick flying out, Jackson Chourio set the tone with a double to left. It wasn't long before Christian Yelich brought Chourio home, giving the Brewers an early lead. However, the Cubs struck back in the bottom of the first with a two-run homer. But fear not, Brewer fans, Rhys Hoskins and Caleb Durbin brought the firepower in the second. Hoskins blasted a homer to tie it up, and Durbin followed with a two-run shot - securing a solid lead for the Brew Crew!
As the Brewers kept the momentum, William Contreras's single in the third, which brought Chourio home, really had us cheering. The highlight, though, was in the 5th inning when Isaac Collins delivered a clutch three-run homer, extending our lead to 8-3. With our bats buzzing, the Cubs could barely catch a break!
Holding Strong Against the Cubs Surge!
The Cubs did their best to fight back with homers from Ian Happ and some base-running drama in the 8th. But our bullpen, starting from Ashby to Megill, stepped up and took the challenge head-on. The 9th inning was a nail-biter, especially when the Cubs got a runner on base. But when Trevor Megill caused Seiya Suzuki to ground into a double play, it was game over! Brewers take a hard-fought 8-7 victory!
Overall, it was a thrilling game with fantastic performances from our players. Well done to the entire Brewers squad for bringing this one home! Let's go Brew Crew!
