Tough Night at Wrigley, but the Brewers Show Fight

What a whirlwind of emotions for us Brewers fans! The Crew faced the Cubs at Wrigley Field in what turned out to be a nail-biter of a game. Initially, things looked bleak as the Cubs took an early lead, but Milwaukee showed heart, making a late push to close the gap. Unfortunately, despite their efforts, the Brewers fell short, ending the game with a 5-6 loss to the Cubs. ⚾💔

Cubs Take Early Command

The game started off rough with the Cubs' Nico Hoerner blasting a home run to put the first run on the board. The first inning closed with the Cubs leading 2-0 after a series of walks and a fielder's choice that allowed them to sneak in another run. Christopher Morel later expanded their lead in the 3rd with a 2-run homer, putting the Cubs up 4-0. The Brewers' bats were quiet early on, struggling against the Cubs' pitching and leaving us scoreless through the first six innings.

Brewers Show Their Mettle

However, hope sparked for the Brewers in the 7th inning, showcasing why this team can never be counted out. Rhys Hoskins kicked off the inning with a walk, followed by an Oliver Dunn triple, finally putting the Brewers on the scoreboard. Then, Blake Perkins delivered a thrilling 2-run homer, breathing life into Milwaukee's comeback hopes. Sal Frelick and William Contreras kept the line moving, chipping in more runs to bring us within striking distance.

Nail-Biting Finish

The 9th inning was a roller-coaster, starting with Perkins drawing a walk and culminating in a Contreras RBI single that brought the game to a 5-6 score. With the tying run on base, the tension was palpable, but a heartbreaking fielder's choice ended the game, stranding the Brewers just one run shy of the Cubs.

Reflections

Tonight's game was a testament to the Brewers' fighting spirit. Even in the face of adversity, the team rallied late in the game, making a compelling push that fell just short. While it's tough to swallow such a close loss to our rivals, the Brewers' late-game surge is a silver lining that showcases the relentless hustle and heart of this team.

We'll get 'em next time, Brewers Nation! 🍻⚾ #BrewersForever
