Heartbreaker in Cincinnati
Fellow Brew Crew fans, what a nail-biter we had on our hands last night as our Milwaukee Brewers took on the Cincinnati Reds. The ending was not in our favor
, but let's take a moment to go through the game highlights.Early Tension
The game started quietly in the first inning with neither team managing to put any runs on the board. Jackson Chourio, Blake Perkins, and William Contreras couldn't find their way on base as the Reds' defense stood tall.Meanwhile, our mound presence had a bit of a stumble with Jonathan India singling to kick off the bottom of the inning, but we managed to keep the game scoreless thanks to a clutch pick-off play and a few key strikeouts.
Brewers' Fightback
The Reds took an early lead in the second inning. A home run from Jake Fraley and some aggressive baserunning put us down 2-0. Things appeared bleak after we were unable to respond in the top of the inning, with strikeouts from Willy Adames, Brewer Hicklen, and Gary Sánchez.But then came the third inning, and hope was rekindled! Rhys Hoskins and Brice Turang set the stage with back-to-back singles. Chourio came through with another hit, loading the bases. Perkins brought Ortiz home with a sacrifice fly, cutting the deficit to 2-1.
Our comeback continued through the fourth inning. Willy Adames stepped up and smashed a solo homer to center (400 feet!). We were all tied up at 2-2, and the game was igniting
.Back and Forth Battle
Moving into the fifth inning, Joey Ortiz doubled to left, followed by a clutch single from Brice Turang that sent Ortiz over the plate. We took the lead 3-2! Unfortunately, the Reds fought back immediately, tying the game again at 3-3.Both teams had their chances through the mid-innings, but our bullpen and the Reds' bullpen slashed any further threats.
Extra Innings Drama
The game entered extra innings, and the tension was palpable. We had opportunities but couldn't capitalize—base running mishaps and Reds' solid defense held us at bay.In the 11th inning, Andruw Monasterio ran for Hoskins but was left stranded on third after Perkins fouled out and Contreras grounded out to shortstop.
It was a tough bottom for us. The Reds managed to squeeze out a win when Rece Hinds, running for Dominic Smith, advanced to third on Will Benson's groundout. Santiago Espinal delivered the game-winning infield single, bringing the Reds to a 4-3 victory.
Final Thoughts
