Mid-Game Struggles
After a thrilling start, the Mariners' momentum slowed down; hitting became a little shakier as our offense contained a mix of strikeouts and fly outs. Meanwhile, the Twins began to chip away at our lead. Trevor Larnach's solo homer in the 4th put the Twins on the board and brought the score to 4-1. Despite this, our pitchers were able to control the game and keep the Twins from gaining too much ground in the early innings.Late Inning Heartbreak
A solid homer from Cal Raleigh in the 8th inning gave us a 6-3 lead, restoring some optimism. But, the Twins came back harder than ever. Willi Castro's home run in the 9th turned the game back in their favor. Then Carlos Correa continued the assault in the 10th with a two-run homer, ultimately leading the Twins to an out-of-reach lead. Our bats were silenced in the bottom of the 10th, and the final score was a gut-wrenching 12-6 loss.Despite the loss, it was great to witness the offensive skills our lineup is capable of. We'll learn from this and come back stronger in the next game!
