Tough Loss Against the Mets
Hey Cubs fans, yesterday was quite the battle, but unfortunately, we came up short against the Mets, losing 5-2.Mets Pull Ahead Early
The game started off quietly, but the Mets broke it open in the 3rd inning. After Harrison Bader doubled to left, Francisco Lindor hit a two-run homer, followed by Brandon Nimmo's solo shot right after. Just like that, the Mets were up 3-0.Cubs Struggle at the Plate
Our bats were pretty silent for most of the game. Nico Hoerner got things going with a single in the 1st, but we couldn't capitalize on it. Throughout the next few innings, we had some tough luck, including strikeouts and ground outs. A bright spot came in the 7th when Christopher Morel hit a massive 420-foot homer to bring us within two runs.Mets Seal the Deal
The Mets weren't done though. Mark Vientos added another run with a solo homer in the 8th, pushing their lead to 5-2. We tried to rally in the 9th with Dansby Swanson's single, but pinch-hitter Patrick Wisdom struck out to end the game.Final Thoughts
It was a tough loss, but let's keep our heads up, Cubs fans. We had some moments and showed fight towards the end. We'll get back at it, and hopefully, our bats will come alive in the next game. Go Cubs!Scoreboard for Mets @ Cubs (June 23rd, 2024)
