Mets Come Out Swinging in the 1st Inning 💥

What a thrilling start to the game! After a couple of quick outs, Mark Vientos singled to center, setting the stage for Pete Alonso to deliver a massive 404-foot homer to left center, bringing in Vientos and making it 2-0! But that wasn't all; Jesse Winker followed up with his own 404-foot homer to right center! The Mets were up 3-0 before we knew it! What a way to set the tone early!

White Sox Claw Back a Bit 🤏

The bottom of the 2nd inning saw the White Sox push back a little as Korey Lee and Lenyn Sosa got on base. Miguel Vargas then hit into a fielder's choice allowing Lee to score. The score now was 3-1. Yet, José Quintana managed to keep his cool, getting two crucial outs to end their rally.

Adding Insurance in the 3rd and 6th 🛡️

In the top of the 3rd, Francisco Lindor singled and advanced to third on a single from Jesse Winker, who was on fire today! Lindor scored, making it 4-1. The 6th inning saw Starling Marte single to bring in Pete Alonso, stretching our lead to 5-2. That extra run provided a cushion that certainly came in handy!

Holding It Down 🧱

The bullpen did a phenomenal job maintaining our lead. Adonis Medina, Drew Smith, and Adam Ottavino each pitched scoreless innings, keeping the White Sox at bay. José Butto came in for the bottom of the 9th and, despite giving up one run, managed to close the game, securing our victory.

Game Highlights 🎇

This game had its share of nail-biting moments, but our bats and bullpen came through in the clutch. From Pete Alonso's and Jesse Winker's early homers to key defensive plays, the Mets proved to be the better team today. Final score: Mets 5, White Sox 3. Let's go Mets! 🚀
