Tough Night at Coors Field for the Rockies
Ah, what a night at Coors Field it was as our Colorado Rockies faced off against the New York Mets. It was a closely contested game, but alas, we fell short, losing 4-2. Let's dive into the highlights and relive some exciting moments.Early Game Struggles
The game began with a stalemate, both teams striving hard to get on the board but coming up empty-handed through the first two innings. Our boys were swinging with intent, but the Mets' defense held strong. Kudos to Antonio Senzatela for stepping up in relief of Ryan Rolison and putting out the initial fires the Mets threatened to stoke.
Moniak's Solo Shot Provides Hope
In the bottom of the third inning, the crowd at Coors Field erupted with joy as Mickey Moniak sent a homer soaring into right field, traveling a fantastic 390 feet!
That solo shot gave us an early 1-0 lead. Unfortunately, opportunities to extend our lead slipped away when Thairo Estrada grounded into a double play to end the inning.Rockies Fight Back in the 7th
It wasn't until the bottom of the seventh that we saw some more action. Sam Hilliard delivered a thrilling triple to right, and Moniak was there again, driving Hilliard home with a single to tie the game at 2-2. However, Moniak was thrown out trying to stretch it into a double, putting a damper on the rally.
Heartbreak in the 9th
Despite some stellar pitching from our bullpen to keep things level, the Mets managed to sneak ahead with a double from Francisco Lindor in the ninth inning, bringing home two critical runs. Our Rockies couldn't manage a comeback in the bottom of the ninth, with Kyle Farmer lining out to end the game.Overall, it was a game filled with promise and tension, and although the loss stung, we saw some notable performances from our team.
