Tough Loss for the Mets in Houston
Hey Mets fans, it was another nail-biter down in Houston that saw us come up just short against the Astros with a final score of 2-1. It's never easy seeing such close games tip to the other side, but let's break down what went down out there.A Quiet Start
The first few innings were all about the defenses and pitchers on both sides as we saw zero runs from either team through four. Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso both attempted to break through early, but sadly couldn't find the hits when we needed them.Breaking the Deadlock
The Astros were first on the board with a solo homer by Jeremy Peña in the bottom of the 5th. But our own Juan Soto answered back in the 6th inning, managing to ground out to the pitcher while driving in Jose Siri, who had skillfully stolen second and advanced to third on a fly-out by Lindor. This tied the game at one apiece. Things were looking up!Astros Edge Ahead
Unfortunately, the Astros snatched back the lead in the bottom of the 6th when Yordan Alvarez doubled to center, bringing in Isaac Paredes after he reached on a fielder's choice, making it 2-1. After that, we couldn't quite capitalize on our remaining opportunities to land another run.Struggles to Score in the Late Innings
The final innings saw us Runners Left on Base (LOB). Despite Soto reaching on a walk and moving into scoring position in the 9th, Pete Alonso, Brandon Nimmo, and Mark Vientos couldn't bring him home. The Astros' pitcher Josh Hader played spoiler, closing out the game and sealing their lead.MVPs and Unfortunate Moments
Big shout-outs to Soto for that aggressive play in the 6th, and props to Siri for his smart base-running. It was those few special plays that brought that one run home to tie the game. But alas, pitchers and their defenses were relentless throughout the game for both sides. Keep your heads up, Mets fans! We’ll get them next time. Let’s keep supporting our guys to bring that passion out to the field.

Keep the faith, LGM!
