An Exciting Start and a Nail-biting Finish
What a thrilling match-up between our New York Mets and the Los Angeles Dodgers! The game started off with a bang, as Francisco Lindor sent one flying over the fences with a 417-foot homer in the top of the first inning, bringing an early lead at 1-0. The Dodgers attempted to respond quickly, but our pitching staff held strong with Shohei Ohtani swinging and missing early on.
Keeping the Dodgers at Bay
The following innings kept us Mets fans on our toes, as our defense was put to the test. Freddie Freeman and Max Muncy posed constant threats, but the defensive plays and strategic pitching by the Mets shut down the Dodgers consistently through the first six innings. The top of the fifth inning saw Brandon Nimmo bring in Jeff McNeil with a critical ground-rule double, giving us a solid two-run lead. The Dodgers tried to claw back, with an electrifying homer from Shohei Ohtani in the seventh, keeping us on edge.
A Heart-stopping Extra Innings Victory
But the real excitement came in extra innings! Tensions were high, and our bats did not disappoint when it mattered most. Francisco Alvarez and Francisco Lindor delivered clutch RBI hits, bringing the score to 4-2 in our favor. The bottom of the 10th was nerve-wracking as the Dodgers tried to rally back, scoring once and placing runners in threatening positions. Thanks to the composure of Buttó—who got the critical outs—we held them at 3 runs, securing a sweet victory for our Mets.
