Tough Loss for the Marlins Against Mets
Hey Marlins Nation, tough game today . We dropped a close one to the Mets 1-0. Let's break down the events inning by inning and see what went down.Pitchers Duel in First Three Innings
Our pitching kept it tight early in the game, with some fantastic defensive plays. In the top of the 1st, Francisco Lindor walked, but nothing materialized for the Mets thanks to some solid fielding. Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Bryan De La Cruz couldn’t get much going in our half. Josh Bell managed to get on base with a walk, and Jake Burger followed it up with a single, but unfortunately, Jesus Sanchez grounded out to keep it scoreless through one.Mets Manage to Squeeze a Run in the 4th
The Mets broke the deadlock in the top of the 4th. Pete Alonso doubled to left, and the bases got loaded quick. Francisco Alvarez grounded into a fielder's choice, bringing Alonso home. We had our chances, though. In our half of the 4th, Jesus Sanchez got a single and advanced to third on some errors by the Mets, but Xavier Edwards struck out looking .Frustration Mounts as Game Remains Tight
The 5th and 6th innings didn't bring more luck to our boys. Josh Bell popped out, Jake Burger got hit by a pitch but we couldn’t bring him home. Our bullpen came in and kept us in the game, but offensively, we just couldn't get the big hit we needed. Even with Otto Lopez managing a walk and a couple of wild pitches, we couldn't capitalize.Late Game Efforts Come Up Short
Even as the pressure mounted, we couldn’t break through. The 7th inning saw Xavier Edwards get walked and advance to third on a wild pitch, but Bryan De La Cruz struck out. The 8th inning had some hope with Jesus Sanchez and Otto Lopez both getting singles, but Nick Gordon struck out swinging. The top of the 9th saw the Mets threaten again, but JT Chargois and our defense held. Unfortunately, our last go in the bottom of the 9th fell short as Vidal Brujan struck out and Jazz Chisholm Jr. popped out to end the game.Final Thoughts
Such a frustrating night, only managing 5 hits against the Mets. Our pitching was solid, but we were just missing that clutch hit. Keep the faith, fellow Marlins fans!
