Mets Start Strong with Early Lead
We started off this roller coaster of a game with a promising lead! In the top of the 3rd inning, our man Mark Vientos smashed a homer to right field, bringing Francisco Lindor home and putting us up 2-0. Our ace at first, Pete Alonso, extended the lead in the 6th with a solo shot to right center. It was looking good with a 3-0 lead over the Phillies, and the Mets’ Nation was buzzing with excitement!Phillies Claw Back But We Fight On
The bottom of the 6th dampened our spirits when the Phillies struck back hard. Bryce Harper and Nick Castellanos each homered to level the playing field at 3-3. But we didn’t let them keep the momentum! Brandon Nimmo put us back in front in the 7th with a homer of his own, and we headed into the latter innings with a 4-3 advantage. The Phillies weren't done yet, reclaiming the lead with a 3-run rally, but we weren’t going down without a fight. In the top of the 9th inning, Mark Vientos came through again with a two-run homer, making it a nail-biting tie at 6-6. However, despite a great effort and strong performances, the Phillies managed to seal the game in the bottom of the inning with a walk-off single by Castellanos. Final score: Phillies 7, Mets 6.
